Letter Title: “Social Media Dangers”
We live in the age of instant gratification with new technological advances and communication. Every day, there’s a new social media platform enticing our children and young adults, but as parents are we aware of the dangers lurking in these platforms. We hear stories of how children are addicted to video games and inappropriate content on the internet. As parents, we are the role models for our children. If our children see us always on our laptop or in front of the TV, watching inappropriate content or vulgarity, they in turn will do the same.
As an Ahmadi Muslim parent, the Holy Quran warns me “save yourselves and your families from a Fire.” [66:7] Prophet Muhammad provided guidance to Muslims more than 1400 years ago, “Indecency makes the perpetrator unsightly and modesty and bashfulness gives a modest person inner and outer beauty and makes him beautiful.”
As a parent, it is our responsibility to make sure that our children are protected from indecency and vulgarity. We need to constantly evaluate ourselves to make sure that we are not falling prey to these things. The worldwide spiritual leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Caliph says in his book‘Social Media’, “The fornication of the mind and the eyes is real and gradually this behavior leads to actual sin.”

Letter Title: “What is the Purpose of Life?”
What is the purpose of life? This is an age old question, man has always asked, especially in times of great peril like we are experiencing these days with Covid-19. We tend not to think about religion or our life when we are healthy or are experiencing economic prosperity. We go about our life reaping the benefits of materialism and forget about our religious responsibilities. But as soon as we are ill or face hardship, we question God or religion in general.
According to my religion Islam, man was created to worship God. God Almighty says in the Holy Quran, “And I have created Jinn and men so that they should worship me” [51:57]
As an Ahmadi Muslim, we are taught that in order to achieve this, we must first recognize the existence of God. We must believe that God is alone without any partner. He is the one who has given us life and is the one who will end it as well. The founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Messiah Ahmad says in his book,‘The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam’ that man “is a creature and the One Who created him and invested him with better and higher faculties than those of all other animals, has also appointed a purpose for his life.” And that purpose “without a doubt is the worship and the understanding of God and complete devotion to Him.”
We must be steadfast in our worship and be benevolent to those in need. His Holiness, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide spiritual leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and the Caliph says in his book,‘World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace’, “true peace of the world lies only in turning towards God. May God enable the world to understand this point; only then will they be able to discharge the rights of others.”

Letter Title: “Alliance for Absolute Justice”
It’s not easy surviving coronavirus in an increasingly unstable society. The unalienable right of justice seems reduced to sensational words and empty promises by current political leaders. Alarmingly, the same perils were faced 100 years ago when Mufti Muhammad Sadiq, the first Ahmadi Muslim Missionary to America, came to share True Islam’s needed values.
Inspired by Prophet Muhammad’s strivings in Hilful Fudul, a 6th century alliance to uphold justice and alleviate suffering, Sadiq challenged and addressed the lack of social and economic justice, morality, freedom, and unity so effectively that hundreds of Americans were attracted to the source of Sadiq’s revolution: the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Here, the marginalized found fairness, compassion, and universal love. It was in our actions that the underprivileged discovered a palpable and lasting impact, and the same can be said today.
The worldwide head of my Community, Caliph Mirza Masroor Ahmad, instructed “Our campaigns and efforts should be focused on ensuring that Black people and other minorities take part fully in all democratic processes and they focus on being represented in all levels of government, law enforcement and other sectors so that real change can occur”. Thus we launched AAJ, Alliance for Absolute Justice, to reignite the spirit of service in fulfilling the rights of others over our own through God’s recognition as modeled by Prophet Muhammad and enshrined in the Holy Quran.
We invite you to join forces in our call to action in collaboration with Power the Polls to bridge voter gaps. Let’s empower compatriots to vote by volunteering at the polls this election day. Islam guides us to hand over trusts to those who qualify and the greatest qualifying quality is that once elected they should have the courage to govern with justice. Please join our efforts and visit absolutejustice.us.
